Institute for Health Research and Social Psychiatry
The Institute for Health Research and Social Psychiatry conducts applied research in health, social psychiatry and psychiatric community care, examining the family and societal conditions determining health. In the past, the institute has studied family counseling, children with mentally ill parents, and partners and family members of schizophrenics. The institute is made up of Catholic University professors, junior researchers and doctoral candidates. It is under the direction of Professor Johannes Jungbauer (Aachen) and Professor Albert Lenz (Paderborn).
The institute’s research is not only for science. It also benefits students - their seminars, theses, and dissertations. The master’s programmes in clinical social work and social work in healthcare require students to complete research projects pertinent to the institute’s work.
